A lifelong resident of Bethpage, John Sullivan is committed to public
service and to making this community a safe and enjoyable place to
live. In addition to his responsibilities with the Bethpage
Water District, Mr.
Sullivan is President of the Nassau-Suffolk Water Commissioners'
Association and an active member of both the Long Island Water
Conference and American Water Works Association.
A union plumber/foreman by trade, Mr.
Sullivan is able to bring his professional knowledge and expertise to
make sound decisions that will benefit the community for years to
come. He currently serves as an officer on the Finance Board of
Plumber's Union Local 200, and has been an instructor in the union
apprentice training program. Mr. Sullivan is a graduate of
Bethpage High School and attended the City College of New York.
He and his wife, Cheryl, have three children, Rachel, Brendan and
Drew.
Mr. Sullivan has over 30 years of service
with the Bethpage Fire Department. Some of his leadership
capacities include years as Captain of Ladder Company #3 and Chief of
the Department. His technical experience and understanding of
the essential components of emergency management have benefited the
Water District as they continue to work with community emergency personnel
to ensure the availability of water at the necessary pressures.
2009 is Mr. Sullivan's sixth year of service with the Bethpage Water
