Bethpage
Water District is located in the central part of eastern Nassau
County, NY and services the community of Bethpage as well as small
portions of Old Bethpage, Plainview, South Farmingdale, Hicksville
and Levittown. This area spans 5.5 square miles and services
approximately 32,000 people with over 100 miles of water main, 8800
water services and over 1000 fire hydrants. Currently, the
District's maximum well pumping capacity is 11,200 gallons per
minute from 8 wells that are drawing water from various depths of
the Magothy
aquifer.
The district now has three storage tanks, which store 4.25 million
gallons of the highest quality drinking water. Our average demand is
3.3 million gallons per day and approximately 8 Million gallons per
day on a peak usage day. The district was originally
established in 1923 as Central Park Water District until 1936, when
the town changed its name to Bethpage. |
